1981-1991 Volkswagen Aluminum Radiator

To be straight up, this a cheap Chinese radiator. This is the same type of radiator you could purchase from Amazon or eBay. This type of radiator is popular due to its all aluminum construction, dual pass design, size and we believe over ALL else cost.

We did not start out selling these radiators, rather accessories for them. By demand we started stocking the Chinese low cost types that are popular among those that have accepted its function over its form.

There are numerous manufacturers of this style radiator in this price range. Out of those, we have purchased several of them. ALL have passed the leak test but the welding on every one does not and will not look as pretty as a high dollar custom. The packaging isn't great and most of them will have some type of damage on the core fins right out of the box. The outlet are mostly straight. The OEM shroud bungs are close but when coupled with our laser cut CNC bent shroud that is consistent every time, doesn’t always match up. At times we have seen aluminum weld blobs in the outlets what could be knocked down if it bothered you. Out of the many brands this particular one has been the most consistent however will still have the issues explained above, just less of them.

We just want to set up your expectations when buying a $100 something aluminum radiator. This is what you get for the cost.

It does the job. Its proven. Thats why so many people like it. If you want one that looks amazing there might be manufactures you can look into like Koyo for example.
