EFV88 Cable-to-Hydro Conversion (1988 Civic/CRX Pedal Assembly)

We finally created a cable-to-hydraulic conversion specific to the 1988 pedal assembly for the 1988 Honda Civic Hatchback, Sedan, and CRX. (Does not fit Wagon.)

You no longer need to track down a 1989–1991 pedal assembly to run our conversion in your 1988 chassis.

Fitment Requirements (Do Not Skip)

  • These cars are old and often previously modified—verify your pedal assembly matches the photos in this listing.
  • Make sure your pedal assembly does not have a Neutral Safety Switch.
  • Does not fit Wagon or RHD at this time.

How This Works (Chassis-Specific, Swap-Universal)

This kit is chassis-specific (EF 1988 pedal assembly), and swap-universal. The bracket/master setup stays the same regardless of your engine/transmission plan. Just like OEM hydraulic cars (EG/EK/DC), you simply run the slave cylinder that matches your transmission—or a hydraulic release bearing if that’s your clutch setup.

Read This First (Install Accountability)

  • This is not a “bolt-on and guess” part. A hydraulic clutch system must be installed and adjusted by someone who knows what they’re doing.
  • Most “bad masters” we see are not defective—they’re damaged by over-travel from an improperly set pedal stop, incorrect adjustment, poor bleeding, or fluid contamination.
  • If you install it correctly, it lasts. If you skip the setup steps, it can take the master out—and the internet blames the part.

Warranty Update (Builds Take Time)

A lot of builds sit for months (sometimes years) before the car is actually driving. A typical 12-month warranty can be gone before you even get to use the kit. That’s why we’re moving to a 24-month warranty on master cylinders for the original purchaser—so you’re protected when the car hits the road, not just when the box shows up.

Important: Warranty support may require basic verification of setup (ex: a quick photo/video of your pedal stop and adjustment). That’s not us being difficult—it's how we prevent repeat failures and keep accountability where it belongs.

Options

1. EFV88 Bracket + Wilwood Master + Billet Reservoir + Line (Complete Kit)

We consider this our COMPLETE KIT. It’s essentially universal and will work with any swap you plan to use. Whether B or K series, just add the slave that matches the transmission you plan to use.

2. EFV88 Complete Kit + Cable B-Series Slave, Adapter & Linkage (Includes Standard Slave)

This option includes virtually the same parts as Option #1, but adds our linkage kit to convert a cable B-series transmission to hydraulic.

If your cable keeps breaking, or you’re tired of inconsistent engagement from cable stretch, this lets you run a hydraulic system without swapping to a hydraulic transmission. The adapter allows you to bolt the included slave to the OEM cable clutch fork arm, eliminating the cable altogether.

3. FWD Cable D-Series (L3 or ZC) Adapter Kit (Includes Standard Slave)

Finally! You can now convert your FWD cable D-series (L3 or ZC) to hydraulic. This kit includes an adapter that allows you to bolt on the included slave to your cable FWD D-series. The kit includes everything from Option #1.

4B. EFV88 Bracket + 3/4" Wilwood Master + Billet Reservoir + Line + B-Series Hydraulic Release Bearing

Complete kit featuring a Clutch Masters hydraulic release bearing, commonly used with twin and triple-disc clutches.

The system uses a 3/4" master as recommended by Clutch Masters to ensure complete disengagement with heavy-duty pressure plates. Expect the pedal to feel heavier than stock—that’s normal with this master size and aggressive pressure plate fingers.

5K. EFV88 Bracket + 3/4" Wilwood Master + Billet Reservoir + Line + K-Series Hydraulic Release Bearing

Same as Option 4B, but configured for K-series applications. Includes a Clutch Masters hydraulic release bearing and the proper 3/4" master for complete disengagement with heavy pressure plates. Expect a heavier pedal—normal for this setup.

Required Modifications

  • REQUIRES: Removal of the driver-side air vent and fresh air duct (cannot be reused).
  • DOES NOT fit RHD at this time.
